NEXTITE 554 Non Drip Gel

NEXTITE 554 is a high performance surface insensitive instant adhesive in a non-drip gel form, perfect for applications that require control or vertical bonding. It delivers high strength, reliable bonds across a wide range of materials making it an ideal general purpose solution. With its thick gel viscosity and fast cure speed, it sets in seconds on most substrates, providing virtually instant bonding on a wide range of materials including plastics, metals and rubbers. The surface insensitive formulation ensures consistent results even on rough, porous and acidic surfaces.

Product Overview

NEXTITE 554 is a surface insensitive, non-drip gel instant adhesive which provides dependable bonding even on difficult substrates. It’s designed for the assembly of difficult-to-bond materials which require uniform stress distribution. NEXTITE 554’s all around general purpose formulation makes it ideal for a wide range of applications including bonding plastics, metals and rubbers as well as porous materials such as wood, paper, leather and fabric. Its surface insensitive formulation allows for bonding on rough, porous and acidic surfaces where other instant adhesives fall short. Perfect for both high strength bonding applications and any fast at home jobs or repairs.

NEXTITE 554 is a high viscosity gel which provides excellent control during application and ensures precise placement of adhesive. It’s perfect for vertical bonding applications where a non-drip and non-run feature is necessary. Unlike lower viscosity instant adhesives, it does not run or spread out once applied, allowing the user more working control and reducing mess. NEXTITE 554 cures rapidly, achieving strong bonds on most substrates in approximately 15 seconds. It allows for 0.15 mm of gap filling and is very high strength on close fitting parts.

NEXTITE SP 901 Polyolefin Primer

NEXTITE SP 901 is a surface primer for making polyolefins and other low surface energy surfaces suitable for bonding with NEXTITE Instant Adhesives. It is suitable to prime the notoriously difficult to bond surfaces such as polyethylene, polypropylene and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). NEXTITE SP 901 works well with all of our cyanoacrylate adhesives especially the faster fixture time ones.

NEXTITE CA-1 Cyanoacrylate Activator

NEXTITE CA-1 can be used in conjunction with NEXTITE Cyanoacrylate Adhesives to promote a faster cure and to extend their gap-filling capabilities. Cyanoacrylate Adhesives naturally have limited gap-filling ability, but the use of an activator helps extend this capability by curing the adhesive almost instantly. Using a cyanoacrylate activator it also enables fillets of cured adhesive to be formed if required and can be used to reduce the effects of blooming, which can affect decorative surfaces. CA-1 is particularly effective when bonding porous materials, as the rapid curing prevents the adhesive from soaking in and ensures a stronger more reliable bond.

It is ideal for industries and tasks that require a general purpose adhesive with instant bond and high strength. It is also ideal for surfaces that have a rough, porous or acidic surface making this adhesive a true allrounder.

Technical Highlights

Instructions for use

1.     Ensure all bonding surfaces are clean and free of grease. Use NEXTITE PROPREP or ACRI-BOND CLEANER (for delicate materials) and allow the surfaces to dry completely.

2.     For low surface energy plastics, apply NEXTITE SP 901 Primer to the bonding area. Use sparingly and avoid excess application. Let the primer dry fully. Do not use primer on plastics that are not low surface energy.

3.     If required, NEXTITE CA-1 Activator can be applied. Apply to one bonding surface only. If a primer has been used, do not apply activator to the same area. Allow the activator to dry before proceeding.

4.     Dispense adhesive onto one surface only (never on the surface treated with activator). Assemble the components quickly, as the rapid fixture time provides little chance for repositioning.

5.     To cure excess adhesive or fillets outside the bond line, apply NEXTITE CA-1 Activator by spraying or dropping directly onto the exposed adhesive.

6.     Keep the parts fixed or clamped in position until the adhesive has achieved fixture.

7.     Allow the bond to reach full strength before applying service loads, which typically occurs after 24 to 72 hours depending on the bond line, substrates and environmental conditions.

Shelf Life and Storage

NEXTITE 554 has an 18 Month Shelf Life when stored correctly.

Store in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight, an enclosed cabinet is recommended, to extend the shelf life of this product. Keep the open container tightly closed do not leave open.
