NEXTITE EA3200 is a flowable, industrial-grade, two-part potting epoxy adhesive offering high strength and an extended work life. Once mixed the two parts cure at room temperature without the need for heat curing. It cures to form a semi-rigid, opaque black encapsulant that is non-corrosive to metallic components on PCBs and electronic assemblies. The fully cured epoxy adhesive provides excellent environmental and chemical resistance and acts as an electrical insulator.

Product Overview

NEXTITE EA3200 is a high performance, flowable, two part structural epoxy adhesive engineered for potting and encapsulating electronic components, curing fully at room temperature without the need for a heat curing process. It also delivers strong, durable bonds while remaining toughened and slightly flexible, helping absorb vibration and thermal movement. This makes it suitable not only for potting applications but also as a traditional high strength structural epoxy adhesive where long term durability is critical.

With an extended working time of 60 minutes, NEXTITE EA3200 allows ample time for potting applications, its controlled cure profile supports larger volume pours without rushing the process to be within working time and allows for accurate positioning in complex assemblies. EA3200 is non corrosive to metallic components on PCBs and electronic assemblies.

NEXTITE EA3200 is widely used in electronic applications including component attachment to boards, housing assembly and potting of electronics. Once cured, it provides excellent environmental, temperature and chemical resistance along with strong electrical insulation properties, ensuring dependable long term performance in demanding operating conditions.

Applications and Uses

  • Potting and encapsulating of electronic components and assemblies
  • PCB component bonding
  • Encapsulation of sensors, relays, connectors and control modules
  • Bonding electronic housings and enclosures
  • Structural bonding of plastic, metal and composite parts
  • Improving reliability of soldered components

Tools and Accessories

NEXTITE EA3200 requires the use of a compatible dual cartridge dispensing applicator and static mixer nozzles, sold separately. Both the 50mL and 400mL Cartridges use standard 1:1 Ratio dual cartridge dispensing applicators and static mixers. It is important to use the correct applicator and mixer for each cartridge size, as 1:1 ratio systems are not compatible with other ratios cartridges and accessories. Each cartridge type requires the matching dispensing applicator and static mixer designed specifically for its ratio.

Instructions for Use

Mixing Instructions
  1. Use gloves to minimize skin contact. DO NOT use solvents for cleaning hands.
  2. To use simply insert the cartridge into the application gun and start the plunger into the cylinders using light pressure on the trigger.
  3. Next, remove the cartridge cap and expel a small amount of adhesive to be sure both sides are flowing evenly and freely. If automatic mixing of resin and hardener is desired, attach the mixing nozzle to the end of the cartridge and begin dispensing the adhesive.
  4. For hand mixing, expel the desired amount of the adhesive and mix thoroughly. Mix for approximately 15 seconds after a uniform colour is obtained.
Instructions for Potting
  1. Apply the adhesive into the area which is to be potted.
  2. Application to the substrate should be made within 60 minutes. Larger quantities and/or higher temperatures will reduce this working time.
  3. Allow to cure at 25°C for 24 hours for full cure. Heating up to 95°C for 2 hours, will speed up curing.
  4. Excess uncured adhesive can be cleaned up with ketone type solvents.
Instructions for Bonding
  1. For high strength structural bonds, removal of surface contaminates such as paint, oxide films, oils, dust, mould release agents and all other surface contaminates.
  2. For maximum bond strength apply adhesive evenly to both surfaces to be joined.
  3. Application to the substrates should be made within 60 minutes. Larger quantities and/or higher temperatures will reduce this working time.
  4. Join the adhesive coated surfaces and allow to cure at 25°C for 24 hours for high strength. Heat up to 95°C for 2 hours, will speed up curing.
  5. Keep parts from moving during cure. Contact pressure is necessary. Maximum shear strength is obtained with a 3-6 mm bond line.
  6. Excess uncured adhesive can be cleaned up with ketone type solvents.
