Product Application
Canister
USE IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA.
- Surfaces to be bonded should be clean, dry, grease and dust free. If cleaning solvents are used, allow adequate time for drying and wipe surface with a clean cloth before applying adhesive.
- Fully open the valve on the canister. Direct the gun at the surface which it is to be bonded, at a 90 degree angle. Spray adhesive 10-15cm away and apply a generous even coat of adhesive.
- Ideal application: 10-15cm bands of adhesive overlapping by 50% spraying one surface vertically and the other horizontally. Avoid over application. Ideal coverage 80-100%. Do not concentrate in one area or allow to puddle. On porous surfaces a second coat maybe necessary (after the first coat dries apply a second coat evenly).
Aerosol Can
USE IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA.Â
- Surfaces should be clean, dry and free from grease oil and dust.
- Hold the aerosol at approximately 70 degrees to the surface and apply a uniform coat of adhesive to both substrates, ensuring 80-100% coverage. Spray one surface vertically, the other horizontally and pay particular attention to the edges. Porous substrates may require two applications.
- The adhesive is ready to bond when it feels dry to the touch and does not transfer. Drying takes approximately 1-2 minutes depending on substrates, temperature and humidity. Bring the surfaces together and apply a uniform pressure over the work piece. Full cure will take 24 hours.
- To prevent spray nozzle from blocking, at the end of each period of use, turn the can upside down and press nozzle until spray is clear of adhesive.
- Excess adhesive can be removed with solvent cleaner removed with a suitable solvent cleaner.
Coverage
Aerosol: 6m²
Canister: 300m²
Limitations
Do not use on flexible PVC. FD170 dries within two minutes under normal conditions but this will vary under different temperatures and humidities. High humidity and low temperatures will slow the drying time and if the temperature gets very low can produce bloom. Bloom is moisture which forms on the glue line caused by solvent evaporation lowering the air temperature above it.Â
Shelf Life and Storage
Protect from extremes of temperature in a controlled environment between 15 and 35°C, and away from direct sunlight.
Do not stand on a cold concrete floor. Low temperatures can result in irreparable separation of the adhesive. If the adhesive sprays like a jet the canister is too cold, warm to at least 10°c before using. DO NOT ALLOW THE PRODUCT TO FREEZEÂ
Stored under the correct conditions in original unopened containers the product will have a shelf life of 18 months.
