NEXTITE AB560 High Toughness and Thixotropic, Long Cure

NEXTITE AB560 delivers high toughness and dependable performance when bonding plastics, metals and composites with minimal surface preparation. It provides excellent impact resistance and fatigue endurance with an extended working time of 50-70 minutes, making it ideal for large structural and general assembly applications where more open time is required. The thicker viscosity and slower cure allow for a high maximum gap filling capacity. It is well suited for the transportation and marine industries as NEXTITE AB560 requires virtually no surface preparation and provides consistent overall performance over a large temperature range.

Product Overview

NEXTITE AB560 is a high-performance, two-part methyl methacrylate (MMA) structural adhesive engineered for demanding bonding applications. Designed for reliable bonding of engineering plastics, metals, and composite materials, NEXTITE AB560 offers exceptional toughness, fatigue and impact resistance. 

With an extended working time of 50 to 70 minutes, this adhesive is perfect for complex or large assemblies that require a long open time. AB560 doesn’t require extensive surface preparation or primers for most materials. It is particularly suited for bonding thermoplastics, powder-coated metals, raw metals (full structural strength with NEXTITE SP120 MMA Metal Primer), and composite assemblies where high strength and impact resistance are critical.

NEXTITE AB560 delivers rapid strength development at room temperature, along with excellent toughness, fatigue resistance, and long-term durability. Its non-sag, highly thixotropic formula makes it ideal for precise application, even on vertical surfaces. It also provides high gap filling capabilities of up to 25mm. This adhesive is the go-to solution for industrial manufacturing, transportation, marine, and general assembly where consistent performance and high fatigue resistance are required.

For production environments where a shorter fixture time is critical, NEXTITE AB530 offers the same performance and material compatibility as NEXTITE AB560 but with a reduced working time of 30 to 40 minutes and a fixture time of 90 to 100 minutes. Please note that the maximum gap filling capacity is slightly reduced with NEXTITE AB530.

For production environments where longer working times are critical, NEXTITE AB590 offers the same performance and material compatibility as NEXTITE AB560 but with an increased working time of 80 to 100 minutes and a fixture time of 220 to 280 minutes. Please note that the maximum gap filling capacity is slightly increased with NEXTITE AB590.

Applications and Uses

NEXTITE AB560 bonds to a variety of substrates they include but aren’t limited to:

• Plastics: Acrylic (PMMA), Polycarbonate (PC), Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
• Metals: Aluminium, Steel, Stainless Steel, Powder Coated Surfaces
• Composites: Fibreglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP), Carbon Fibre (CF)
• Other: Glass

NEXTITE AB560 will not adhere to plastics with a low surface energy such as Polypropylene (PP), Polyethylene (PE) or Polyolefins. These plastics can be structurally adhered to with NEXTITE AB206 and NEXTITE Instant Adhesives also have a great bond when using NEXTITE SP 901 Primer.

When fully cured NEXTITE AB560 can be sanded, grinded, routed and polished to get your desired finish. You can even paint over it!

Tools and Accessories

NEXTITE AB560 requires the use of a compatible dual cartridge dispensing applicator and static mixer nozzles, sold separately. Both the 50mL and 400mL Cartridges use standard 1:1 Ratio dual cartridge dispensing applicators and static mixers. It is important to use the correct applicator and mixer for each cartridge size, as 1:1 ratio systems are not compatible with other ratios cartridges and accessories. Each cartridge type requires the matching dispensing applicator and static mixer designed specifically for its ratio.

Instructions for use

1. Use a static mixer nozzle to accurately mix the contents of the 1:1 cartridge. Each cartridge includes one Static Mixer Nozzle Green 1:1, and you can purchase more in 5, 10 and 50 packs from our store.
2. You will also require a 1:1 Static Mixing Dispenser to push the contents through the static mixer. This is the best way to apply it and get accurate, dependable results every time.
3. Parts to be joined should fit without forcing and be clean, it is recommended to use NEXTITE PROPREP prior to applying any product to remove any oils, dust and dirt. It is important to let out any air bubbles and ensure adhesive is fully mixed by dispensing the first part of the cartridge onto some paper. This is to make sure the two separate parts are fully mixed and is generally the first 2-3mL. Apply adhesive directly from the static mixer.
4. Press parts together in firm contact and use a clamp to secure while the glue reacts. NEXTITE AB560 will achieve a working strength within 140-180 min and full cure strength within 24 hours. You have approximately 50-70 minutes to work with the glue before it starts to set off.

Shelf Life, Storage and Pack Size

NEXTITE AB560 has a 12 Month Shelf Life when stored correctly.

Store in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight, an enclosed cabinet is recommended, to extend the shelf life of this product. Keep the open container tightly closed do not leave open.
